Spring is in the air and the months are flying!
So what have I been working on so far in 2026?
A few years ago, I joined a Christian writing group called “Write For A Reason,” which was set up by my friend Janet Wilson, of Dernier Publishing.(Janet is a writer and publisher of Christian books for Kids and Teens.)
I’m part of a small Buddy Group that meets online to encourage and support one another as we work on our stories. It’s been a huge source of encouragement to connect with other Christian Writers and to give and receive feedback and to pray over our stories.
Recently, after much thinking and praying, I’ve decided to shelve my Middle Grade story for now, and circle back to a Young Adult novel I began writing a few years ago. Currently nicknamed “Storm Story” (as I haven’t named it officially yet!) it’s a heart-warming coming-of-age story about friendship, faith and finding hope within the midst of the storm. I really feel that this is the story God wants me to work on at the moment.

Without further ado, I’m delighted to share a little bit more about the story.
On a remote island, where everyone knows your name, 16 year old Evie Mackenzie has learned to be strong. Guarded by grief, she is fiercely protective over her family and keeps a tight lid on her emotions.
With her father often away on his Veterinary rounds, and her little sister Lucy to take care of, Evie finds comfort in routine and in her familiar friendship with lifelong pal, Logan Bailey. Logan has always been there for Evie- kind, steady and dependable. But lately, Evie has begun to sense that some feelings are harder to name, and even harder to ignore.
When an unexpected storm threatens everything she holds dear, Evie must decide whether to rely on her own strength or trust in God, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.
I feel really excited about what God could do with this story, but as with any writing project, there are simply no shortcuts in the task of getting it written! I’m sure there will be huge challenges along the way!
I would really appreciate your prayers as I press on with writing the first draft!
My goal is to write the words ‘THE END’ before Christmas!
Please stay tuned for updates on my writing progress, and I hope to be able to share further news and snippets of the story in due course.
